Is E1420 Halal?
E1420 (Acetylated starch / Starch acetate) is a modified starch produced by esterifying plant starch with acetic anhydride or vinyl acetate. It is HALAL because it is derived from plant starch (corn, potato, tapioca, wheat) and processed using non-animal reagents. Note: not to be confused with E1422 (Acetylated distarch adipate).
