Is E441 Halal?
E441 (gelatin) is made from animal collagen. It can come from fish or a halal-slaughtered animal, but also from pork or an animal not slaughtered the halal way, and the label often does not say which.
Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki, Jafari, Hanbali — their opinion: gelatin keeps the ruling of its source, so a fish, plant or halal-animal source must be named.
