E471 is made from fatty acids. They can come from plant oil or animal fat — possibly pork — and the label usually does not say which.
Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki, Jafari, Zaydi, Hanbali, Ibadi — their opinion: the fat could be pork, so they treat it as doubtful until a plant or halal source is named.
