About Masjid an-Nabawi

Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet's Mosque) in Madinah is the second holiest mosque in Islam, built by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ after his migration (Hijra) to Madinah in 622 CE. The mosque houses the Rawdah ash-Sharifah (the noble garden), a small area between the Prophet's tomb and his pulpit, which is considered one of the gardens of Paradise according to hadith.

The iconic Green Dome marks the location of the Prophet's burial chamber, which also contains the graves of his closest companions Abu Bakr and Umar. The mosque has been expanded many times throughout history and now accommodates over 1 million worshippers. A prayer in Masjid an-Nabawi is equivalent to 1,000 prayers elsewhere (except Masjid al-Haram).

What You Can See
